A licensed designer for many years, Sarah turned to surface pattern design after 20 years creating custom lettering with her own company, Sarah Frederking Design. Her lettering laid the foundation for building repeat patterns and decorative icons, from whimsical and quirky to traditional and refined, leading to her first licenses with an equally diverse group of manufacturers. With each customer comes a new set of challenges and it is those challenges, and her coffee, that get her up in the morning. 

Born and raised in Connecticut, she now lives just west of Chicago. An empty-nester with two grown children, she finds inspiration from her love of animals, gardening, and while taking walks and bike rides through neighboring communities that are rich in architecture, culture, farmers markets and beautiful gardens.
